Recent sale of £1.5m print consultancy

We’ve recently concluded a sale whereby the sellers would have run out of cash within 6 -9 months. The sellers have benefitted from extracting their surplus cash, disposing of assets, maintaining employment for the majority of their team, securing themselves a position within the organisation on a considerable salary, bonus and at the same time, benefitting from the 10% entrepreneurial relief. We had in excess of 60 enquiries for this business and some strong offers.

From a buyers perspective…

To grow a business organically takes time, and effort. Sadly the pandemic has meant that time is short for many, and they may not have the manpower to ensure the required effort.

To grow by recruitment is costly, and far from guaranteed. Even the best sales people will take time to find, and then bed in, and typically take 12-18 months to pay for themselves. Do many print companies have the luxury of waiting that long currently?

The best route in the present climate would be to acquire a business, absorb their sales into yours and make the hard personnel and overhead decisions as part of the acquisition. Once done, you’ve instantly added turnover and profit to your business. It’s not always easy, but probably easier than the other options.

We’re all unsure of what the forthcoming months may bring, if you would like to chat through the potential opportunities we’d happily do so.
